The Hintonburg Community Association expresses heartfelt condolences to the family of Abdirahman Abdi after a disappointing verdict. We cannot do better in addressing institutionalized and system racism in this country without taking a hard look at the institutions and systems in this country that delivered this verdict.
Home takeovers happen more frequently than than we think, especially with seniors and vulnerable people. Crime Prevention Ottawa’s new release below shows how easily it can happen, recognizing a takeover and giving strategies for getting out of a bad situation.
The McNabb Arena Respite Centre which was set up for some of Ottawa’s most vulnerable residents due to the COVID-19 pandemic closed on October 9th. Similar services are planned to be offered from Tom Brown Arena beginning in early November.
