Get your own copy of Hintonburg’s history book!

Back in 2003, John Leaning wrote Hintonburg and Mechanicsville: A Narrative History,  in partnership with the Hintonburg Community Association. The 56 page book provides a wonderful account of the early days of Hintonburg and it includes numerous pictures of our neighbourhood over the years.

Here’s a bit more about the book:  Hintonburg and Mechanicsville: A Narrative History is an informative and affectionate look at the little-known history of two bilingual Ottawa neighbourhoods, both which began as early industrial and streetcar suburbs located within sight of Parliament Hill. Based on archival research, personal interviews, and secondary sources, this book is the first attempt to tell the story of this complex, dynamic and multicultural area.

You can purchase your own copy by…
1. Sending an e-transfer of $20 to treasurer@hintonburg.com. Please add a comment that the transfer is for the Hintonburg history book.
2. After completing the e-transfer, send an email to info@hintonburg.com stating that you’ve transferred $20 for the history book.
We will follow-up promptly to let you know how you can pick up the book from one of our Board members.
