Celebrate Spring by planting a tree for Mother Earth!

Let’s increase the tree canopy in our neighbourhood!
The HCA purchased 50 trees and 100 seedlings of native species to give away this spring for planting on private property in Hintonburg. Species include:
- Grey Birch (Betula populifolia)
- Maple (Acer rubrum)
- Pussy Willow (Salix discolor)
- Red Oak (Quercus rubra)
- White Oak (Quercus alba)
- Red Osier Dogwood (Cornus sericea)
- White Cedar (Thuja occidentalis)
- Yellow Birch (Betula alleghaniensis)
- White Spruce (Picea glauca)
- Pin Cherry (Prunus pensylvanica)
Quantities are limited.
HERE ARE THE STEPS and REQUIREMENTS!
Step 1: Apply and Choose your Tree – Fill out FORM HERE
- Trees must be planted in Hintonburg. (if unsure of borders, please reach out to freespringtree@gmail.com)
- Quantities limited.
- One per household.
- Trees come in 2 gallon pots or bare-root seedlings. All native species.
- Make 3 tree choices: first, second and third. We want to do our best to provide you with a tree but our inventory for each species is limited so we need this information
Step 2: Pick Up Tree on May 10
- Hintonburg Community Centre,
- 1064 Wellington Street K1Y 2Y3
- Saturday, May 10 between 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Step 3: Commitment to care and Partner with HCA
- Show your commitment to your tree with proper care. Planting instructions will be provided.
We view this as a partnership with you to increase our tree canopy for ecosystem benefits such as shade, air quality and mental health.
