Here is the weekly update from the City regarding Magee house, dated January 4th, 2019.
The City expects to receive an engineering report next week with a detailed plan for reinforcing Magee House. Recognizing the concerns of local residents and businesses, the engineering firm engaged by the property owner has worked through the holidays and is now finalizing that detailed bracing plan.
By the end of January, according to the Order to Remedy an Unsafe Building currently in effect (attached below), the building must be stabilized or demolished, to the satisfaction of the City.
This file is a top priority for the City, and in light of that deadline, we will review the engineering plan as soon as it is delivered, with the goal of issuing the appropriate permits needed for work to move forward.
We will continue to work with the property owner to determine next steps, including anticipated timelines to re-open the sidewalk and return traffic and on-street parking to normal conditions. The City will continue to provide weekly updates until the situation is resolved.
