Just a quick reminder that Constable Darren Joseph is our neighbourhood community police officer and his office is located at the Hintonburg Community Centre.

4. Stolen Bikes – Register Yours

Bike theft continues to be an issue throughout areas of downtown Ottawa. Consider registering your bike!

529 Garage (project529.com/ottawapoliceservice) is a bike registration app that connects riders to each other in Ottawa and helps get stolen bikes back to their owners.  The app works to alert other Ottawa-area bicyclists any time a bike is stolen or goes missing. It also redirects users to the City of Ottawa Police online reporting site so that they can complete an online report in order to legally claim their bike if it’s recovered.

Close to 6,000 bikes have been registered to date and of the 154 bikes that have been reported stolen, 39% (61) have been returned to their owners!
