Weekly update: Magee House (1119 Wellington West)

Following an on-site meeting on Tuesday, March 5, the engineering firm that created the stabilizing plan for Magee House has identified the need for some revisions to that plan. Those changes are minor in nature and do not require any further City of Ottawa approvals; however, they have caused a slight delay in the property owner’s ability to provide the City with a schedule for the planned stabilization work.
With the engineering plan now updated, the work schedule is expected shortly and the owner has indicated that work is now anticipated to begin mid next week.
All parties involved are mindful of the need to return sidewalk access, street traffic and parking to normal as soon as possible. With ice and snow still covering rubble from the initial collapse, however, the cleanup work that needs to precede construction could delay the start of bracing work.
